History InSite

Ongoing in Downtown St. Catharines

A permanent, site-specific installation, History InSite juxtaposes historical photographs with modern streetscapes by presenting the photo in, or close to, the place which it was taken.

St. Catharines has a rich photographic history and when compared to the changing streetscapes around the city, that history becomes much more meaningful, poignant, and relevant to our modern eyes. Take in the entire installation across downtown St. Catharines.

Art is Hell: Solo Exhibitions by Tony Calzetta and Gabrielle de Montmollin

June 24 – September 11

The Niagara Artists Centre is stoked to be back in the business of exhibiting incredible contemporary visual art. Art is Hell, solo exhibitions by Gabrielle de Montmollin and Tony Calzetta, is now on display.

Founders of Art Is Hell Studios in Welland, de Montmollin and Calzetta have made an immediate impact on the visual arts landscape in Niagara. Living and working together, they bring individually distinct creative styles and a shared sense of the surreal and the absurd that demonstrates the power of images to build narrative and meaning.
