Rae Rees is a local downtown dweller, small-small business owner, and interdisciplinary artist residing in St. Catharines, Ontario. Their work is heavily influenced by 1950s anthropomorphic illustrations and cartoons. Rees uses their practice in relation to gender-expression and quixotic ideas, showing the absurdity of human behaviour. They are best known for their pop-up alias – Spit And Shine, an online vintage clothing, handmade jewelry, and trinket shop.
Rae’s future plans include combining vintage and art together to (hopefully) sustain themselves, open up a brick & mortar, and to further give back to their community.
