The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is happy to offer free, private, booked virtual school and educational programs and tours. Email us at museum@stcatharines.ca to book your virtual experience today!
Our engaging and experienced staff are ready to take your students on a virtual tour of our permanent galleries or behind-the-scenes in our Museum’s collection. We’re also happy to tackle any local history topics you and your students might have an interest in, including a virtual walking tour of St. Paul Street or a virtual walking tour of the city’s historic architecture.

The museum and the Lock 3 viewing platform will be open by timed entry only. Visitors will be required to call ahead and book a time to visit the facility. Visitors will have 1.5 hours to visit the Museum and Lock 3 Viewing Platform with their timed entry. Please call the Museum at 905.984.8880 to book your entry time.
Available Times:
9am – 10:30am, 11am – 12:30pm, 1pm – 2:30pm & 3pm – 4:30pm
Masks will be required to visit the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre.
The museum has made some other changes to its operations to provide visitors with a safe and enjoyable visit:
- The museum will be closed at times throughout the day to accommodate additional cleaning of the facility.
- The Lock 3 Viewing Platform will only be accessible through the building to control the number of visitors.
- All visitors will be encouraged to wash hands frequently. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility to help visitors stay safe.
The museum is among the most popular place to watch ships as they navigate one of the world’s engineering marvels – the Welland Canal. Observe these giants from the observation deck or from the 2nd floor Lock View Lounge.
During your visit to the site, take time to explore the Museum’s exhibition galleries where local history is brought to life. The outdoor Discovery Park provides an added opportunity to soak up the local history or to just enjoy a picnic in the tranquil surroundings. Wheelchair accessible. Admission by donation.
