Awakened Voices Narratives
As part of Black History Month, the Centre Wellington Black Committee (CWBC) presents Awakened Voices Narratives, a powerful live performance celebrating Canadian Black history through art and storytelling.
Taking place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 PM at the historic Salem Chapel British Methodist Episcopal Church NHS, the event brings to life the often untold stories of Black settlers in Canada. Through spoken word, poetry, music, and visual arts, audiences will explore the struggles, triumphs, and lasting legacies of figures such as Reverend Josiah Henson, Thornton and Lucie Blackburn, Mary Ann Shadd, Richard Pierpoint, and families from the Queen’s Bush Settlement.
Awakened Voices Narratives offers a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with Black history in an engaging and immersive way.
